U.S. military officials have identified the remains of a 20-year-old Collin County native who was lost early in the Korean War.

That report comes from TV station KFOR in Oklahoma City. Army PFC Mathis Ball, originally of McKinney, went missing in the first days of the Korean War in July of 1950. His remains were recovered then, but not identified. He was interred in Honolulu as an unknown soldier.

DNA and dental tests almost 70 years later have identified the soldier, whose remains are due to be buried in Bokchito, Oklahoma, about 60 miles northwest of Collin County.

Burial is set for Nov.18.
