COOPER - One man has been arrested after the discovery of a marijuana growing operation just off FM 64 in Delta County.
The felony bust occurred Thursday.
47-year-old Mark Wheeler is charged with possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and felon in possession of a firearm. His total bond was set at $42,500.
Delta County deputies were assisted in the case by state troopers, DEA agents and a National Guard helicopter.
“Several small marijuana plants were discovered in a barn used as a marijuana growing facility,” Delta County Sheriff Gerald Teague tells the Sulphur Springs News-Telegram. “In the residence, several handguns and long-barrel weapons, along with a small amount of marijuana were found.”
DPS investigators later obtained a warrant to search a residence, buildings and a vehicle at the location.
