Nearly 100 search for missing child, found unharmed

VAN ZANDT COUNTY - A missing three-year-old Van Zandt County girl has been found alive and well after a lengthy search that began Thursday afternoon.

Nearly 100 people, including Van Zandt County Sheriff’s deputies and volunteers had been searching for Zoey Smith and her dog for several hours.

KYTX-TV reports that she was eventually located near Canton in a wooded area after searches heard her cries. Authorities say that Zoey apparently crossed a creek with her dog about two miles from where she was last seen. The dog stayed with Zoey the whole time.

Reports say she was wet and cold upon being located, but not injured.
