New Committee Appointments for NE Texas Lawmakers

A trio of Republican lawmakers from Northeast Texas have some new committee appointments this legislative session. State Senators Bob Hall and Bryan Hughes and State House Rep. Cole Hefner were all tapped by Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick for several committee appointments between them.

Hughes was named chairman of the Senate Administration Committee. He was also named vice chairman of the State Affairs Committee and will sit of the Education Committee, the Criminal Justice Committee and the Natural Resources and Economic Development Committee.

Hall was named chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee and vice chairman of the Senate Veteran Affairs and Border Security Committee. He’ll also serve on the Senate Education, Nominations, and State Affairs committees

Hefner will sit on the House Appropriations Committee, the House Transportation Committee, and the Local and Consent Calendars Committee. That’s the committee that decides when bills and resolutions will be considered on the House floor.
