New Middle School behind schedule, move in delayed

SULPHUR SPRINGS - Sulphur Springs ISD administrators learned this week that they’ll have to wait a little longer until they can move into their new middle school.

The 160,000 square foot facility is behind schedule and architects believe it won’t be substantially complete until mid January.

School officials had hoped to move into the building over Christmas break and begin classes there for the spring semester. The move likely won’t take place now until late spring.

Voters approved construction of the new Middle School, as well as a new Multipurpose Building, as part of a $48.4 million bond in 2009. Crews broke ground on the new Middle School last summer.
