NHISD Sets Tax Swap Election Dates

The North Hopkins ISD will hold a tax swap vote in October.

The district wants to trade 13 cents from the interest rate for 13 cents on the tax rate to help pay for what it calls big-ticket items in the budget. Transportation and electrical efficiency are top-of-the-list concerns. If successful, the swap could bring in nearly $1 million in state revenues for the NHISD.

The district plans to hold several informational sessions throughout this month. Early voting will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 19 and end Oct. 2. Formal election day for the swap is Oct. 6.
