Time changes, but a county’s record of its citizenship will forever remain in its cemeteries. In Delta County the Pierce Cemetery at Lake Creek has headstones dating back to the late l880s.
Last year a few volunteers reclaimed this graveyard with many hours of hard, physical work and limited donated funds.
According to officials the disbursement of funds from the Lake Creek Gin went to churches and cemeteries for their upkeep; unfortunately, those funds have been depleted.
