Possible out-of-this-world object found locally

GREENVILLE - A Hunt County man believes he may have found at least a portion of the meteor seen over North Texas skies in February.

Scott Massay says he found the unusual object three weeks ago right in front of his house. On Monday, he took the object to the Astronomy Department at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Officials there did not rule out that what he had found could be a meteor. But have referred him to their counterparts at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.

On the evening of February 1, thousands of people reported witnessed a fireball streaking across the North Texas sky. The Federal Aviation Administration later confirmed that it was a meteor.
