Relay for Life tonight in Commerce

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life is on for all night tonight in Commerce. It starts at 7pm at the Commerce High School track, and event co-chair Luis Franco says everyone is encouraged to come join the fight against cancer...

FRANCO: The event's open to the general public, everyone's invited. You can participate, at least, in some of the activities.

Survivor Relations Chair Cecilia Delgado, a cancer survivor herself, especially wants anyone who has heard the words you have cancer' to participate, even if they can't make the whole night, because surviving cancer is the purpose of the Relay...

DELGADO: The survivors (are) a huge part of the Relay, and without the survivors we don't have a Relay.

There will be plenty of entertainment for everyone, according to Activities coordinator Omar Brown...

BROWN: We have line dancing, soccer, blanket volleyball, kid's coloring competition, volleyball, bingo, balloon creatues, and horseshoe and washer game...

...and much more, including a pageant and Relay awards. The event starts tonight at 7 with opening ceremonies at the Commerce High School track.
