Science and Technology Center on schedule

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – Construction on the new $28 million Science and Technology Center is right on schedule on the A&M-Commerce campus. The state-of-the-art building will include labs for biological and agricultural sciences, chemistry, physics, and computer science. It will also include a planetarium that will seat nearly 100 people and be capable of displaying not only the stars, but 3-D voyages from living cells, historic battlefields and more.

An intriguing display will also meet visitors coming in the front door, according to A&M-Commerce Electric Utilities Supervisor, Gary Williamson.

WILLIAMSON: ...and its got lighted tiles built into the stone. Blue and yellow solar tiles. At night they'll glow. I don't know what the pattern's going to look like, but that's going to be right in the middle of the main entrance coming in.

The new center is expected to be ready to hold class for A&M-Commerce students in the Spring 2006 semester.
