Seven Vying Two School Board Seats

There will be seven candidates running for two Cooper Independent School District Board of Trustees seats for upcoming election in May.

Early voting begins on April 23 through May 1 with Election Day on May 5.

Cooper ISD Superintendent Denicia Hohenberger announced those seven applicants as incumbent Jeff Phifer running against Jennifer Houchins, Jeff Miller, Jennifer Speulda, Shawn Stegall, Erin Thornton and Damon Toon.

The District also approved the hiring of two new teachers at Monday night’s board meeting – Coach Randy Miller and his wife, Jacqueline Miller. They teaching assignments are yet to be determined; however, Superintendent Hohenberger noted both have many certifications.

“They will be great contributors in any area we need,” she said.
