Spotters Report Tornadoes In Northern Lamar County

Two spotters reported a tornado in northern Lamar County on April 22. The reports were filed at 6:25 and 6:50 p.m.

Two spotters reported a tornado in northern Lamar County on April 22. The reports were filed at 6:25 and 6:50 p.m.

The National Weather Service reports that two trained storm spotters identified a tornado in northern Lamar County during the evening of April 22. 

At about 6:25 p.m., a spotter identified a tornado in rural northwestern Lamar County. The spotter was at the intersection of FM 197 and FM 1499. The tornado was about 12 miles northwest of Toco.

At about 6:50 p.m., another trained storm spotter identified a tornado south of Powderly in Lamar County, near Camp Maxey. The tornado was spotted near the intersection of U.S. Highway 271 and Lamar County Road 2648.

Reports of any damage or possible injuries from the tornado or tornadoes were not available as of 8:45 p.m.

Severe storms raked across parts of Oklahoma and Texas on April 22. In the south central Oklahoma town of Madill, two people were killed by a tornado just before 5:00 p.m., according to the Tulsa World.
