Street repairs coming for Commerce in 2012

COMMERCE - The Commerce City Council Tuesday will consider approval of a nearly $3 million contract to begin repairs of city streets.

The agreement with Halff Associates includes water and wastewater line replacement.

It was unclear what streets had been formally approved in the first year of the proposed three year project, which would begin in 2012. But City Manager Marc Clayton had previously stated that the council had discussed improving two of the most heavily traveled roads in town in Monroe and Washington streets.

Another $900,000 plus would be provided by Texas A&M University-Commerce, to allow for the renovation of Lee Street, a section of Bois d’Arc Street, Stonewall and W. Neal; which all border campus.

Tuesday's meeting begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
