System to provide Fannin County citizens with emergency messages

BONHAM - Fannin County officials have contracted with a national firm to provide its citizens with the emergency notification system CodeRED.

The system, also used by the City of Greenville, allows city and county officials the ability to deliver up to 60,000 pre-recorded emergency messages to targeted areas per hour.

Residents who have a working telephone number within the county database are already enrolled in the program. To ensure you're not left off the list, you can visit the Fannin County website or call 903-583-2187 to provide your information.

The new service comes as recent storms have brought damaging winds and hail to the area. Wednesday night, a mobile home in the Randolph community was turned onto its side due to strong winds, leaving three hospitalized. They were listed in stable condition at last report.
