TAPS To Get Funding Assistance

The Texas transportation Commission says it will free up more than $3 million to help the beleaguered TAPSPublic Transit overcome its lingering debt. TAPS, the Texoma Area Paratransit Partnership, which provides transportation options to mainly seniors in Fannin, Grayson, and other regional counties, has been saddled with an almost $5 million debt problem. The debt grew from money owed to vendors and contract employees. Recently TAPS has considered a plan to sell or dispose of as many as 30 buses.
