Summer nights are great for star gazing, and Dr. Kent Montgomery, director of the Texas A&M University-Commerce Planetarium, comments on an article citing the top six astronomical events of the summer. They start with Saturn appearing in opposition with the Earth (on the same side of the sun and with all three in perfect alignment) this Friday evening (June 3).  Saturn will be closest to the Earth at that time, and the rings will be very visible.  The A&M-Commerce Observatory, south of Commerce off Highway 50, is available for viewing the astronomical events.
