Two men robbed at gunpoint in Commerce

Official Press release from Commerce Police Chief Kerry Crews- "Commerce Police Officers responded to a call of two men that were robbed at gunpoint in the area of the 1800 block of Mayo at about 9:45 p.m. on February 8, 2012. "

TWO MEN ROBBED AT GUNPOINT

COMMERCE —   Commerce Police Officers responded to a call of two men that were robbed at gunpoint in the area of  the 1800 block of Mayo at about 9:45 p.m. on February 8, 2012. 

 

The victims were identified as students attending Texas A&M University at Commerce.  According to them, they had been walking in the alley area behind the 1800 block of Mayo when they approached two men wearing black clothing and black masks that covered their faces.  Both suspects displayed guns and demanded money from the victims. 

 

The only items that were taken in the incident were two cell phones and two student ID cards.  Both victims were released unharmed.  At this point, investigators are attempting to identify the suspects with the description that was given by the victims.  Phone records will also be obtained to follow up on other leads.  Both men were described as tall with dark clothing.  One is said to be black male just above 6 feet tall and approximately 200 lbs. The other one is about 5 foot 10 inches tall and about 170 to 180 lbs.  One other piece of information that may be helpful in tracking the suspects is that they left in a van or sports utility vehicle with a noisy engine.
