GREENVILLE - Crews have reopened a five mile section of westbound Interstate 30 after a semi hauling synthetic plastic overturned near the 97 mile marker at around 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Eric Stinson, maintenance supervisor with TxDot’s Greenville Office, says it took emergency personnel more than four hours just to extract the driver from his truck, which had overturned in the grassy median of the Interstate.

Stinson says recent rains made for muddy conditions in the median, delaying the rescue. The driver, however, was said to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Westbound traffic on the Interstate was detoured onto the westbound service road from the 101 to the 96 mile marker until about 1:30 p.m. until the accident was completely cleared.
