Virtual combat on the A&M-Commerce campus

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – The virtual bullets will be flying as the Army hosts a competition of the internet based game, America's Army on the A&M-Commerce campus. 80 computers will be networked to host the 5 on 5 elimination match, with actual soldiers on-hand to coach the team, according to Greenville recruiter Sgt. Curtis.

Curtis: ...a real Army Recruiter attached to each team, so they can tell them about real life experiences about what's going on during the game, and help them with tactics and defense strategies and things like that.

The event aims to introduce area students to A&M-Commerce, as well as be used for recruitment. The competition is free, with concert tickets or CD players as some of the prizes. Registration begins at 9am Saturday, April 30th in the Information Technology Building on the A&M-Commerce campus, or pre-register by phone at 903-455-7149.
