Students in several rural school districts in Northeast Texas are getting access to college-level courses through a program called Pride Prep.

About 10 percent of students enrolled in college courses in Texas are still in high school. They're taking dual credit classes – that's where they get high school and college credit. These dual credit classes are growing in popularity, but in rural areas, access to college can be a struggle.

High school football season begins tonight! The year kicks off at 6 p.m. with The Big Friday Night Scoreboard Program on KETR, with Commerce Tigers pregame coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. This evening, Commerce will host North Lamar at Memorial Stadium. Play-by-play action with John Mark Dempsey and Kevin Jefferies begins at 7 p.m.

After the shooting at Columbine High School in 1999, the Scott family has made it a priority to teach students about bullying and the effects that it can have, and how to get rid of bullying in their schools. Darryl Scott, the founder of Rachel's Challenge, is the father of Rachel Scott, the 17 year-old girl who was the first to be killed at Columbine.

Since 2010, Commerce Independent School District has honored former students of Commerce High School or Norris School. Along with former students, they are recognizing former staff members that had a great impact on the students of CHS of Norris School. Nominations for 2014's winners are now open.

The winners will be announced at an induction ceremony as part of the homecoming events on Sept. 26.

The voting committee consists of four or five people made up of faculty, staff, and community members, all of which remain anonymous.

Nominations will close on April 3o.

Parking will be difficult at Pottsboro game
