Jim Ayres of the Commerce Rotary Club says the second "Waves of Glory" event, honoring veterans and, this year, first responders, with U.S. flags in City Park, will take place Saturday, Nov. 7 through Friday, Nov. 13, encompassing Veteran's Day.  Veterans and first responders, living and dead, can be nominated for recognition through Oct. 16 at commercewavesofglory.com.

Rotary Club

Jim Ayres of the Commerce Rotary Club says the club will honor U.S. veterans with "Waves of Glory," a display of 100 flags at Commerce City Park, November 9-16, with an opening ceremony Friday night, at 6 p.m., November 8.  Each flag will have a placard honoring a particular U.S. veteran, alive or dead.  Veterans may be nominated for the honor through October 28.  Contact the club at rotaryclubofcommerce@gmail.com.

The Commerce Rotary Club carried out the 12th annual Commerce Idol community talent show on Saturday, April first at the Ferguson Social Sciences auditorium on the campus of Texas A&M University-Commerce. Acts this year included tap dancing, turtabling (digital DJing,) and a ukulele performance.

Performers ranged in age from 10 to 24, and winners were chosen by a select panel of judges based on style, demonstrated skill, and audience feedback.

For the past nine years, the Commerce Rotary Club has been bringing the residents of Commerce and surrounding areas Commerce Idol. The program brings together different talents from different ages and puts them into a two hour show that is guaranteed to make you laugh, and cheer!

On Saturday March 22, hundreds of people filled the Commerce High School auditorium to cheer on their classmates, friends, and parents. The winners of the event took home a cash prize and a gorgeous trophy.

COMMERCE - The Commerce Rotary Club is pleased to announce that this year’s Commerce Idol talent show and scholarship fundraiser boasted the largest audiencein theevent’s six-year history.

The annual event is the Commerce Rotary’s largest fundraiser of the year; the money raised is used for scholarships awarded each year to Commerce High School seniors.  Two students are selected each year and each are awarded $500 for four school semesters.
