Bonham Mayor Roy Floyd says the city of Bonham recently adopted a 20-year master plan for the Jones Field municipal airport.  The city plans to extend the airport's runway from 4,000 to 5,000 feet, which would allow jets to land at the airport.  The city expects to get grants from the state and federal governments that would pay for 75 percent or more of the cost.

Bonham Mayor Roy Floyd says construction is well underway on new construction and a partial renovation at Bonham High School.  That project is valued at $30 million and the restoration of the Fannin County Courthouse in downtown Bonham is estimated at $17 million, giving a major boost to the city's economy, the mayor says.  Also, a new industry, Renlita Doors, has recently started operations.

Bonham Mayor Roy Floyd relates details of the Bonham Vision Plan, being developed in conjunction with the Texoma Council of Governments.  It's a 20-year plan for the city.  The mayor says the city has attracted a company, Northlake Industries, which he says has to do with circuit boards and will employ 25-40 people. Bonham Mayor Roy Floyd reflects on news that Bonham is no. 217 on the list of the top 250 towns in Texas to buy a home, according to analysis provided by LendEDU.  Caddo Mills is no. 156, Greenville is no. 221 and Leonard is no. 249.  The study reviewed data on 1,000 Texas towns and based the rankings on three criteria: the median income to home value ratio; a five-year population forecast; and a five-year income forecast.

Bonham Mayor Roy Floyd discusses the Bonham ISD's $30 million bond election Saturday, which would provide for a new Bonham High School building and a new multi-purpose center, among other projects.  The mayor says a new high school is important to industrial development in the city.  Also, Saturday is the annual Heritage Day Festival in Bonham, with events taking place in downtown Bonham from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Bonham Mayor Roy Floyd says the start of the massive Lower Bois d'Arc Creek Reservoir project will be delayed by a couple of months, from January to March 2016.  The estimated cost of the North Texas Utility Corp. project is now $1 billion.  The Lake Ralph Hall project will apparently be delayed by a couple of years because of a difficult permitting process, the mayor says.

Bonham Mayor Roy Floyd says the North Texas Water Authority will begin construction of the Lower Bois D'Arc Creek Reservoir late this year or in early 2016.  The lake will be 16 miles long and eight miles wide, from  near Honey Grove to Lake Bonham.  The lake has been in the development stage for about 30 years, the mayor says.  Also, construction of Ralph Hall Lake near Ladonia is expected to begin in about a year, according to Mayor Floyd.
