Bonham Mayor Roy Floyd says the City Council recently approved a freeport-tax exemption, that will eliminate a tax that local industries pay on goods in transit.  The mayor says the move will make Bonham industries more competetive with industries in neighboring counties and elsewhere in Texas that have already approved the exemption.  He says the Bonham ISD and Fannin County will also consider approving the exemption.

Bonham Mayor Roy Floyd says Clayton Homes has begun manufacturing double-wide mobile homes and needs 30-40 new employees, and TCI Cable, a manufacturer of cable, needs about 10 new workers.  The mayor says the city and Fannin County are seeking short-haul freight rail service in order to serve its industries and attract new ones.  A new Holiday Inn Express recently opened in Bonham, with a grand opening celebration set for Saturday, March 19.
