Tim McMurray, Texas A&M-Commerce athletic director, says the Lions will open the 2020 football season at home at 6 p.m., Saturday, September 5 against Simon Fraser, an NCAA Division 2 team from British Columbia, Canada.   The Lions will host perennial Division 2 playoff team Bowie State from Maryland, at 6 p.m. Saturday, September 19.  The homecoming game will be at 4 p.m., Saturday, October 24 vs. West Texas A&M.  The Lions host six home games during the 2020 season.

Tim McMurray, Texas A&M-Commerce athletic director, remarks on the expansion of the Lone Star Conference by eight schools, to 19 members,  in the 2019-20 basketball season.  It makes the LSC the largest Division II conference in the NCAA.  The new members are Dallas Bapitst, Lubbock Christian, Oklahoma Christian, St. Edward's, St. Mary's, Texas A&M-International, Arkansas-Fort Smith, and UT-Tyler.

Texas A&M-Commerce Athletic Director Tim McMurray relates plans for the NCAA Division II softball tournament at the John Cain Family Softball Field this weekend.  Tarleton State and Cameron open the tournament at 3 p.m. today (Thursday, May 9) followed by the Lions vs. Dixie State at 5:30 p.m.  The Lions are ranked seventh in the nation.

Texas A&M-Commerce athletic director Tim McMurray says A&M-Commerce athletes have a 3.13 overall grade point average (GPA) and achieved a 3.09 cumulative GPA in the fall 2018 semester, with 10 of the 14 teams maintaing a collective 3.00 GPA or better.  McMurray gives much credit to the James Thrower Academic Center on the north side of the field house and athletic academic advisors Judy Sackfield and Victoria Kisluk.

Texas A&M-Commerce athletic director Tim McMurray says he has known new head football coach David Bailiff for nearly 20 years at Southwest Texas State (now Texas State) and as a competitor when Bailiff was head coach at Rice and McMurray was in the SMU athletic department, and calls Bailiff a "players' coach" who is "unbelievably plugged into high school football coaches in Texas."  Bailiff will be introduced in events today (Dec. 12) at 11 a.m. McKinney ISD Stadium (where the NCAA Division 2 championship game will be played Saturday) and at 3 p.m.

Texas A&M-Commerce athletic director Tim McMurray reflects on the NCAA playoff prospects for the A&M-Commerce football and volleyball teams.  Tim says if the Lions win Saturday at Minnesota-Duluth, and if Azusa-Pacific wins at Tarleton State, the Lions would host Azusa-Pacific on Saturday, November 24.  If the Lions and Tarleton win, the Lions would play at Stephenville.  The Lions volleyball team will play Angelo State at 2 p.m.
