A&M-Commerce basketball finishes regular season this weekend

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – A&M-Commerce basketball finishes up the regular season on the road this weekend. The men and women both play important games with playoff implications as they face Southwestern Oklahoma. Game time has been moved to a 1pm start for the women and a 3pm start for the men.

The men's team can control their own playoff destiny and secure a berth with a win Saturday. After a dramatic overtime victory Wednesday, which marked Head Coach Sam Walker's 100th win at A&M-Commerce, the men set themselves up to need just one more win on the road to guarantee a playoff berth. The Lions are 16-10 overall and Southwestern has a 8-18 record.

The women's team continued their impressive season with a victory Wednesday, which gave them 15 wins on the season and an undefeated home record. Both mark the first such milestones in team history. With a win Saturday over Southwestern Oklahoma, the ladies would secure the first ever Divisional Championship for A&M-Commerce women's basketball. The Lions are tied for second in the LSC North. Southwestern is in first.
