Speed may be factor in boat crash

By Kevin Jefferies

Lake Texoma – Excessive speed may have been a contributing factor in a deadly boat collision on Lake Texoma that killed five people, including a couple from Rockwall. According to his son, Gordon Mineo of Rockwall had his boat going around 75 miles per hour at the time of the accident Saturday that killed Mineo, his wife, two passengers, and a woman in another boat. One man is also hospitalized in Dallas in serious condition.

Investigators say alcohol likely was not a factor in the accident. Both drivers had reputations as non-drinkers who were careful about safety. One cooler that was recovered contained nothing but water and soft drinks.
