Commerce – A current city councilman and former mayor of Commerce is again seeking office. Mayor Pro Tem John Sands filed for re-election Thursday for City Council Place 2. Sands previously served as Commerce mayor from the mid-1990's through 2002. He's currently in his second term on the Council.
Joining Sands on the upcoming ballot is Russell Luttes, an 18-year old sophomore at Texas A&M University-Commerce, who filed this week for City Council Place 4. All Council seats are at large. Filing deadline for the May 10 general elections is March 10.
