Hunt County – Charges in an area police department break-in have been dropped.
Trial was scheduled to begin Monday for 26-year-old Stephen Robert Chaney, of Quinlan. However, the office of Hunt County District Attorney Noble Walker was granted a dismissal of the charge Thursday, based on most of the enhancement charges in the indictment having previously been cancelled.
Chaney had received one indictment for burglary of a building/tampering with physical evidence/theft of a firearm for his the alleged break-in of the West Tawakoni Police Department in August, 2008.
