Greenville – The Greenville Police Department will soon begin an aggressive warrant round-up for individuals with outstanding municipal court warrants.
An amnesty period will run Monday through September 12, during which those with outstanding warrants can pay their balances and avoid being arrested. Additionally, they will save money by avoiding the payment of a warrant fee and the cost of posting a bond.
There are currently over 1,200 names on the outstanding warrant list of persons who collectively, owe more than $1.3 million in outstanding fines to the City of Greenville.
A list of persons with outstanding warrants will be published in the Herald Banner on Sunday, August 30 and will be available on the City of Greenville web site on Monday, August 31.
Persons with outstanding tickets are encouraged to call the Greenville Municipal Court at 903-457-3129 immediately or visit in person at 3000 Lee Street. All fines and court costs must be paid in full following a conviction of a Judge's order. The court accepts, cash, money orders, cashier's checks and credit cards.
Monday, August 31: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Tuesday, September 1 - Thursday, September 3: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday, September 4: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Monday, September 7: Closed for Labor Day
Tuesday, September 8 - Thursday, September 10: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday, September 11: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, September 12: 9 a.m. to Noon
Once the amnesty period is over, officers with the Greenville Police Department will begin aggressively serving warrants. Individuals with outstanding warrants could be arrested at their residence, place of employment, school or any other location. Law enforcement agencies in surrounding cities and counties will be cooperating with the Greenville Police Department to serve outstanding warrants in areas outside of Greenville and Hunt County.
