Appeal lost, Campbell burglary conviction upheld

Greenville – The 60 year sentence handed down to Douglas Kevin Smith in 2009 will stand following a recent ruling.

The burglary, which occurred in March, 2006, involved the theft of a shotgun, rifle, $530 in cash and 300 pounds of steaks. Smith was arrested the following day after attempting to pawn off one of the firearms.

The crime would normally carry a maximum punishment of 20 years, but Smith was also found to have six previous felony convictions over a 25 year span
