CANTON - Van Zandt County Commissioner Ricky LaPrade avoids jail time but must resign from office after being found guilty of misapplication of fiduciary property.
KYTX-TV reports that he was sentenced to 4 years probation in connection with an April 2011 arrest.
The jury’s decision Wednesday came after they deliberated two hours.
LaPrade was also fined $2,000 and must also pay $6,000 in restitution and waive his right to appeal. LaPrade has been a commissioner since 2000.
