Latest drought map shows encouraging signs for state

Recent rainfall across much of Texas has pulled more than 10% of the state out of drought status for the first time in more than a year.

The U.S. Drought Monitor map released this week shows 10.1% of the state with no drought, up from 6.98% last week.

A large portion of the listening region remains drought-free, while portions of Rains, Wood and Van Zandt counties are listed as abnormally dry.
