COMMERCE - On June 7, attendees broke into four groups to identify strategies for fundraising, donor recognition, communications and in-kind donations as part of an effort to restore the library’s 95 year old building.

Volunteer Carolyn Trezevant says it’s "now time to put those ideas into action."

Built in 1918, the current library building on Park Street is a Texas Historical Landmark. With an annual budget of roughly $90,000 of which the city funds about two-thirds, the Commerce Public Library is in strong shape from an operational perspective. But nearly $400,000 in needed building repairs is what’s driven the “Save the Library” campaign.

Wednesday's meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. from City Hall.
