Less than two weeks after the theft, sheriff's department makes busts.

Delta County Sheriff Ricky Smith reported Wednesday the county had four in custody for thefts from 13 separate units at Westowne Self Storage, located on State Highway 24 in Cooper.

While the criminals did not break down the gate surrounding the units, the latches and locks were broken and tools, large tool boxes and other property were taken, Smith said.

On Tuesday, Delta County officers found stolen property leading to a search of a residence west of Klondike. The search led to the recovery of several additional items that were stolen from the storage units. Arrest warrants were issued for four persons for burglary of a building and arrests were made shortly thereafter.

Managers Gloria and Ronnie Buchanan said the incident, which occurred Feb. 15, is the biggest theft in their 20 years of operating the 121 units.
