Greenville Police Dept.

A Dallas man, who was granted probation after pleading guilty involving a carjacking in Greenville over the summer, is being sought in connection with the homicide of a local resident.

Thomas Isaac Medlin, 34, is being sought for questioning concerning the murder of Eddie Caballero Lopez, 23, of Greenville.

According to a statement issued by the Greenville Police Department Wednesday evening, officers responded at around noon Monday to a call of a deceased person at a residence at 3013 Cornelia Street and were joined at the scene by an investigator with the Texas Rangers.

Lopez’s body was sent to the Dallas Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy, the results of which were provided to the department Wednesday, ruling the death a homicide.

The police department indicated it was attempting to locate Medlin as a person of interest in the homicide investigation. Medlin is also being sought in regard to an outstanding warrant for probation revocation on the earlier aggravated robbery charge.

Medlin entered a plea of guilty in September to a reduced charge of robbery, was placed on 10 years of deferred adjudication probation and was ordered to pay $1,357 in restitution.

Medlin, along with Amber Rae Melton of Caddo Mills had been taken into custody by the Greenville Police Department on a charge of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon regarding the incident early on the morning of July 19.

Melton remains in custody at the Hunt County Jail and has trial pending on two counts of aggravated robbery.

Three victims told officers they met Medlin and Melton at a local store and agreed to give them a ride across town.

But upon arrival in the 4100 Block of Park Street, Medlin allegedly produced a handgun, ordered the three men to exit the vehicle and to leave the contents of their pockets in the truck. The suspects then left in the stolen truck.

Crime Stoppers is currently offering a reward of up to $1,000 for the arrest of Medlin and anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 903-457-2929.
