Telephone Scammers have been calling businesses posing as the City of Sulphur Springs water department with threats, reported City Manager Marc Maxwell.
“They are calling businesses saying if they don’t pay today they will be cutting off their water,” said City of Sulphur Springs Manager Marc Maxwell, very concerned Thursday afternoon.
He said they may be calling individuals too, that he wasn’t sure. The City of Sulphur Springs only sends written notices by mail. If an individual or a business receives a suspicious call of this nature please contact the Sulphur Springs Police Department at 903-885-7602. They are currently investigating and collecting phone numbers.
