NHISD Seeks High School Principal

 North Hopkins Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Darin Jolly recently announced the search for a new 2017-18 high school principal has begun. This followed the promotion announcement of Robert Stanley, current principal, to Director of Operations/State and Federal Programs.

   “Mr. Stanley will continue to lead the campus as principal this spring while we actively search for a new principal for the Fall start of next school year,” said North Hopkins ISD Superintendent Dr. Darin Jolly. “Mr. Rob Stanley has successfully led our secondary campus as principal and has many talents that are beneficial for our district’s future steps for CTE and other compliance requirement for State and Federal programs. He has always been a faithful and dedicated teacher and administrator in our district and I’m excited about this new step for him as we move our district even farther forward to open as many doors for our students as possible.”

   “I am very excited,” said Rob Stanley on the promotion. “This will allow me to learn more of the operations of a district.” Stanley hopes this is another step closer to becoming a superintendent in the future. He has spent the last five years as a principal at NHISD and 15 years as a teacher.

    Dr. Jolly stated he is restructuring several components in order to allow for funding for this change. Stanley will help find federal funds and oversee the District’s AEP (Alternative Education Program). The superintendent added with the cut to the custodial contract a year ago this allowed for funds for this plan.

    Stanley also presented the steps and timeline for becoming a District of Innovation in House Bill 1842. Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) defines a “District of Innovation” as a concept passed into law by the 84th Legislative Session in House Bill 1842. This allows traditional independent school districts to access most of the flexibilities available to Texas’ open enrollment charter schools. Following executive session the Board unanimously voted to hold a public hearing on Jan. 26, 2017 at 6:15 p.m. to discussion pursuing the District of Innovation status. This item will be on the regular meeting set for 6:30 p.m. that same evening.
