The Texas Health and Human Services Commission is dealing with an unwanted – and certainly ironic --health issue.
Rattus norvegicus -- Norwegian rats also known as street rats that have invaded the commissions offices in Austin. The Texas Tribune reports multiple rat sightings by employees, which could be a sign of a genuine infestation. The agency is now facing a $60,000 exterminator’s bill to rid the building of its furry guests.
The Texas Facilities Commission, which normally would handle issues like pest extermination, says the infestation is likely the result of renovation work in the building.
