Discovering Adela Sloss Vento, Mexican-American Civil Rights Activist

Texas A&M University-Commerce hosted a presentation by Eastern New Mexico University-Ruidoso Professor of History and Humanities Dr. Cynthia Orozco. The topic was the life of Adela Sloss Vento, a South Texas civil rights activist whose work is the topic of a forthcoming book by Orozco. Before the presentation, Orozco discussed Sloss Vento and her world with KETR's Mark Haslett.

Dr. Orozco is also author of No Mexicans, Women or Dogs Allowed: The Rise of the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement. Orozco's visit was sponsored by the A&M-Commerce Gender Studies Program, the Department of History, the Latin American and U.S. Latino Studies Minor, and the College of Humanities, Social Sciences and Arts.
