Commerce to get new water pump

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – Low water levels in Lake Tawakoni have forced the City of Commerce to order a new water pump at the lake. With engineering and installation, the new pump with cost about $130,000. It will have the same capacity as the current pump, but will be mounted about 300 feet off the pier and be attached to a barge so it can rise and fall with the lake levels.

The city was told to expect delivery of the new pump in eight to nine weeks, a timeframe the city is working to lower.

Lake Tawakoni is about eight feet below normal levels for this time of year.
