Commerce Police make three drug-related arrests

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Within the past two weeks, Commerce Police have made three arrests of individuals from two separate search warrants.

On August 13, tactical officers made entry into a residence in the 600 block of North Neal Street after securing a search warrant alleging illegal narcotic sales.

Lamar Blakley, 46, was arrested and charged with the following: possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana under two ounces, and possession or sale of a movie recording, all totaling $3,000 bond.

Audrey Hines, 33, was also arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana under 2oz, possession or sale of a movie recording, and cruelty to animals; totaling $4,000 bond.

The second bust occurred on August 18, where a search warrant also alleging illegal narcotic sales led officers to search a residence in the 12000 section of Oak Meadows Town Homes.

While no drugs were found, Sheldon Hamilton, 26, was taken into custody and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. His bond was set at $5,000.

Both warrants stemmed from on-going narcotics investigations in the City. The investigation is continuing and further charges are likely. So far this month, the Commerce Police Department Tactical Officers have executed seven search warrants for illegal narcotics.
