CHICOTA - A Lamar County man is said to have exchanged gunfire with multiple law enforcement officials Friday afternoon before he was subdued.
52-year-old Bobby Byron Frierson was eventually wounded after officers returned fire. He was listed in stable condition at a Dallas hospital.
The Sheriff’s office says deputies were dispatched to the Chicota community that afternoon for a disturbance call.
A failed negotiation with Frierson lasted for several hours before gunfire erupted. He’s been charged with aggravated assault on a public servant.
No officers were injured in the incident.
