A manhunt in northern Hopkins County on Wednesday ended in an arrest.

The chase went from the Mahoney to Peerless to Birthright ending in the Tira area last Wednesday afternoon about 5 p.m.

Delta County Sheriff's Deputies along with Hopkins and several others including a helicopter pursued John King and arrested him for stolen property and other warrants.

According to Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office Chief Investigator Lewis Tatum, officers were in the process of serving King when he arrived home to find the authorities.

King drove away but went off road after encountering road spikes left by authorities near the intersection of Farm to Market Road 71 and State Hwy. 19. King ran his truck through a fence and took off on foot through a pasture near Tira. He was discovered under a brush pile by the helicopter’s body-heat-sensing cameras.
