A manhunt is currently underway in Delta County. Local law enforcement including the Delta County Sheriff’s officers, Game Wardens as well as Hopkins County – providing assistance – are in search of suspects involved in the production of a “substantial
field of marijuana” growing near Farm to Market Road 71 and the Sulphur River.
Delta County Sheriff Ricky Smith informed the search began around noon Saturday.
UPDATE: The search continues at 6 p.m. with the assistance of drug dogs and DPS helicopter surveying the area.
"We believe there are several people involved," said Sheriff Ricky Smith. "We discovered four to five different tents along with multiple patches of marijuana being grown."
