Wyman Williams, Texas A&M University-Commerce College of Business development officer, discusses plans for the dedication of a new historical marker at the birthplace of Gen. Claire Lee Chennault, at 10 a.m. Wednesday (October 14) in Commerce.  The location is 1509 Monroe Street, north of Live Oak Street.  The market will be written in two dialects of the Chinese language.  Chennault led the famed "Flying Tigers," a volunteer group of American fighter pilots, in defending the Chinese against Japan in the early days of World War II, and was later a general in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
