Severe thunderstorms are possible throughout most of Northeast Texas this afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service has advised that large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes are possible.
Storms are expected to begin developing around 2-4 p.m. and should track east across the region through early to late evening hours. The area at highest risk is north and east of a Denton-Plano-Terrell-Canton line, the National Weather Service said.
Current forecasts give a 50 percent chance for showers or thunderstorms in Northeast Texas today, with afternoon high temperatures around 80. Tonight, a 30 percent chance for showers or storms, with lows in the mid 50s.
Update, 1:40 p.m.: The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch from now through 9 p.m. Monday night.
