Cooper Review editor Cindy Roller says a survey of the newspaper's readers shows strong support for maintaining the brick streets on the city's square.  The brick paving is about 100 years old, she says.  The city is considering replacing the bricks with pavement because it is said vibration from heavy trucks rolling over the bricks causes damages to some of the downtown buildings.  The bricks might be preserved in other ways if the streets are paved with asphalt or concrete.  Also, a new state historical marker has been dedicated at the old Cooper railroad depot.
