Commerce man pleads not guilty to assault

By Brad Kellar

Commerce – An arraignment has been held in a Commerce aggravated assault case.

Larry D. Harrison pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is alleged to have run over a Commerce woman with a van, twice.

An attorney was appointed to represent Harrison, and an interim hearing set for May 26.

Harrison was arrested in October, 2007, after Commerce Police responded to an assault in progress at the intersection of Aldridge and Pecan Street. Harrison allegedly smelled of alcohol as he was taken into custody, and several open bottles of beer were found inside the van.

The woman struck by the van refused treatment for her injuries.
