The upcoming municipal election will decide who will get to sit in four seats on the Greenville City Council, with early voting to start in less than a week.

Places 1, 5 and 6 on the council, along with the mayor’s post, are on the ballot.

The Herald-Banner is hosting a political forum this evening featuring the contested races for mayor and Places 1 and 5. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Landmark on Lee Street, 2920 Lee Street in downtown Greenville.

David Dreiling and Dan Perkins filed for the office of Mayor of Greenville, while Dr. Jerry Ransom and David Charles Stewart are seeking the unexpired term in Place 1 being vacated by Perkins in his run for the mayor’s post.

Incumbent Place 5 Council member Renee Francey is facing Brent Money, who previously has served as the Greenville City Attorney.

Cedric Dean is unopposed in seeking the Place 6 seat on the council.

Early voting will take place between April 27 and May 5.
