With an emergency call at 1:23 a.m. Thursday morning an unoccupied house quickly became fully engulfed in flames on the corner of Southwest Fifth Street and Terrell in Cooper. The older wood frame house was a total loss.

“We are not sure at this time the cause of the fire. Electrical and gas services were still connected,” said Cooper Volunteer Fire Chief Charles Ruzicka. The fire required the work of 10 Cooper volunteer fire fighters, two engines and a tanker along with assistance from Klondike and Enloe Volunteer Fire Departments.

The structure burned to the ground fairly quickly and the departments had it extinguished in a couple of hours, added the Fire Chief.
